Privacy Policy

This policy describes information collected during a visit, why it is used, and the limited circumstances in which another party may receive it. By using Lawrence County Criminal History, you accept these practices.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or location entered in a search tool is sent to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and returns its response. We do not keep a local log of those search terms.

Messages and Contact Submissions

An email may be retained long enough to answer and manage the exchange. It stays within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.

Data We Gather Automatically

Loading a page can produce standard technical and usage data:

  • Page-view dates and times
  • Browser name and version
  • Device category and operating system
  • IP address assigned to the device
  • Visited pages and time spent on them
  • Referring site, when one is supplied

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small files stored on a device. They and analytics services help combine traffic patterns, such as popular pages and common exit points. A browser can block cookies, though doing so may change how some features behave.

What We Do With This Data

  • Diagnosing errors and performance problems
  • Routing a search request to its provider
  • Operating and improving the website
  • Understanding which material visitors use
  • Displaying advertising that may reflect user interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

Lawrence County Criminal History does not compile, maintain, or sell a personal criminal-record database. It describes official routes through the Lawrence County sheriff and courts, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, and Alabama Sex Offender Registry. Visitor data is not assembled into a third-party record or consumer report. This site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies operate the search boxes. Information submitted there is governed by that company's privacy policy. Each provider controls its own retention, processing, and disclosure choices, so review its policy before using the tool.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to courts, sheriffs, Alabama agencies, legal resources, or search providers. Once a visitor leaves, the destination's policy governs. Read it before providing personal details.

Advertising companies may use their systems to track activity across websites for targeted ads.

Who Might See Your Data

We do not sell personal data. Limited information may be available to:

  • Analytics vendors that measure traffic and performance
  • Search providers that receive a submitted query
  • Advertising networks serving page ads
  • Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under valid legal process

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable standard safeguards protect collected data. No internet system is perfectly secure, however, so complete protection against every breach cannot be guaranteed.

Users Under 18

The service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If a minor's data is identified, a deletion request may be made.

Your Data Rights

Applicable law may provide added rights. Alabama's Open Records Law, Ala. Code § 36-12-40, governs public writings held by government offices, while Ala. Code § 41-9-601 limits false-pretense access and unauthorized communication of offender information. Those laws do not turn this private site into a government records custodian. Visitors may:

  • Request access to personal data we hold about them
  • Ask that inaccurate personal data be corrected
  • Request deletion where applicable
  • Object to certain processing where applicable

Updates to This Policy
